Why You Should Not Be Buying DVDs Anymore

DVDs are still being used by many to watch movies despite the popularity of streaming. Needless to say, it is less expensive and you may not need to go over countless options before settling on which to buy. To some movie lovers, collecting DVDs have become their hobbies. And why not? They look beautiful once they are placed orderly inside a glass shelf. You can also easily pick up your favorite movies like the film vertical limit, and watch over and over again.

Undoubtedly, watching movies has become a pastime to many during this pandemic. Sad to say, watching DVDs may not be a convenient option. Here’s why you may need to go streaming than buying DVDs.

DVDs Have Lower Quality

But not this time, streaming and Blu-Ray have taken over as they provide crisper and clearer imaging for viewing experience. If you are in area where there is unstable internet, it can only be the time when watching movies through DVD can be better than streaming. Otherwise, if you do not have any problem with your internet connection, streaming is way ahead when it comes to quality.

They Can Get Easily Damaged

DVDs are not like your pieces of jewelry or other forms of art that can last and increase in value. They may be good to see inside your glass shelves but you may not know it that the DVD discs inside those plastic packages are already damaged. You should know that even your fingerprints on your DVD disc can result in defective viewing. Scratches, smudges, moisture, dirt, dust, and solvents can also affect the quality of your DVDs.

With several skips and distorted images, it may be really frustrating while watching a movie. For some, it may be better to just turn off the device and do other things.

They Take Up Space

DVD rackIf you do not have enough space at home, it may be a problem to place all your collections of DVDs. This is unlike digital movies which do not have a physical form. DVDs are not also very portable. You have to physically carry them when you move out.

While DVDs are inexpensive nowadays, it may not be the case if you watch many DVDs in one day.

All these disadvantages of buying DVDs should make you ponder on what’s the best option. If you can rent out DVDs it may be better. But if you have a stable internet connection, streaming may be the best way to watch movies nowadays.
